RunKeeper

August 17th, 2009

I recently tried RunKeeper, an app for the iPhone. This lets you track your running activities by monitoring your GPS coordinates.

RunKeeper lets you track how far you ran, your pace and speed, running duration, calories burned, and it even uses Google Maps to show the path along which you ran. I like how it shows your pace for each mile, a feature that helps improve consistency.

The Pro version of Runkeeper comes with a price tag of $9.99 from the app store. I think that is a little steep, considering that the only additional feature is audio cues (that would get in the way of listening to the iPod). I’m completely happy with the free version.

After your exercise activity, the details can be viewed either on the iPhone or on the RunKeeper website. It shows the entire history and allows progress to be tracked graphically.

That being said, I love this app. It is absolutely brilliant!
